Avonwood Results - Summer 2023

For the 2022-23 academic year, 80% of Avonwood children met GLD (‘Good Level of Development’). This is significantly above the 2022 national average of 65%.

For the 2022-23 academic year, 88% of Year 1 children passed the phonics screening test. This is well above the 2022 national average 75.5%.

Notes:

• 20% of our Year 6 cohort will join the local grammar school in September 2023, making Avonwood one of the largest grammar feeder schools in the BCP area for the 2023-24 academic year.
• Avonwood Primary School has BCP Local Authority Moderators working in Year 2 (Mr Mather) and Year 6 (Mrs King).
• Avonwood Year 6 Writing was successfully moderated by BCP in June 2023

For the 2022-23 academic year, 95% of Year 1 children passed the phonics screening test. This is significantly above the pre-pandemic national average of 81%.
