Ofsted Outstanding

Ofsted Report

We are ‘Outstanding’!

Outstanding

We are delighted to announce that, following an Ofsted inspection in April 2024, inspectors have found that we are an ‘Outstanding’ school.  In our first full inspection since we opened ten years ago, we have been judged outstanding in all five inspection categories.

The inspectors’ glowing report is full of praise for our school, from the exceptional academic education to our pupils’ excellent behaviour and attitudes.

Inspectors were particularly impressed by:

  • Our aspirational academic curriculum which inspectors found to be “skillfully designed” and “highly ambitious” allowing pupils to “blossom”;
  • Our warm and positive culture which enables pupils to experience “‘the magic of primary school”;
  • Our pupils’ “exemplary” behaviour and attitudes which mean they work hard, achieve well and have a “strong sense of altruism”;
  • Our pupils’ excitement to come to school because they do not want to miss out”;
  • Our expert and committed staff who inspectors rightly described as “inspiring” and “dedicated”;
  • Our focus on providing a range of “rich and diverse experiences” which “extend pupils’ understanding far beyond the academic”.

 Chris Jackson, Head Teacher of Avonwood Primary School, said:

“All of us at Avonwood Primary School are thrilled that Ofsted has recognised what an aspirational, friendly and community-minded school we are, as well as the exceptional education we offer. I am particularly delighted that they saw that our pupils are excited to come to school and that, alongside their love of learning, they demonstrate such kindness, maturity and care for others.

 “As we approach our ten-year anniversary of the school’s opening, this is a significant milestone which the entire school community can feel immensely pleased with. We are so proud to be rated ‘Outstanding’, an outcome which is testament to our wonderful staff, pupils and families.  I would like to thank each and every one of them for their important contributions to the life of our school and for making Avonwood such a vibrant and inspirational place to learn.”
